Mhairi McFluff and the Big Bad Bug

I wrote this children's book at the beginning of lockdown to help children better understand the concept of a lockdown and what it means to social distance and isolate through an enjoyable journey with woodland characters that happen to be in very simular situations to ourselves.

I first sold the book on Etsy as a paper download and all the profits for the book went to NHS Charities Together. With a wonderful editor by my side I managed to publish the book as a paperback on Amazon!

The book was not only written by myself, but illustrated too - not that I am an artist first and foremost.
My book was a huge hit when it first came out - becoming an Etsy bestseller over night.

In October I donated a handful of my Amazon self-published books to CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) to help and entertain them too!

The Plot

Mhairi McFluff lives with her mum, who is a nurse, her dad, who is a teacher at Mhairi's school and her Granny who loves to knit and read. Mhairi goes to school just like any other kitten her age, but on this one supposedly normal day Mhairi and her best friends Heather Hedgehog, Dougal Dormouse and Ruaridh Rabbit are sent home because there is a Big Bad Bug. Despite being told she must stay home by her mum and dad, Mhairi decides to meet her friends after school at the park. Little did she and her friends know that Heather Hedgehog actually had the Big Bad Bug and now Mhairi was going to take it home to her mum, dad and Granny. What will happen to Mhairi when she returns home?
