Wasted Time
Creating the Film
In the middle of the lockdown in 2020 I found a film competition for the Scottish Youth Film Festival that asked for films up to 3 minutes long surrounding the theme of time. The concept was multifaceted and full of so many posibilities that was challenging to put into a mere 3 minutes. Once I came up with a solid script and cast for the film, the 'circuit breaker' hit and we were forced into stricter lockdown restrictions and I could no longer shoot the film. In two days I came up with a whole new script and called on my trusted and talented team to create this film.
With my brother on camera, we shot the entire film in one day and had it set during lockdown and over a Zoom call. The film turned into a short comedy with a strong message - If you waste time, time will waste you. Unfortunately because it ended up being too long for the competition requirements we couldn't list it in that specific competition.

Plot
Alya, a clutzy girl with a huge crush, is persuaded by her best friend, Sophie, to call her crush and tell him how she really feels. However, when Alya inadvertently sends a corny love confession and her entire conversation with Sophie to her crush she hastily tries to delete the voicemail to discover that her phone has the ability to turn back time. She uses this opportunity to try and fix her mistake but after continuously failing to succeed she has to come to terms with her wasted time when her phone runs out of battery.
